Exploring the idea of positivity has always felt important to me because as a leader, I often default to positivity. I’ve taken the Clifton Strengthsfinder many times over the years and positivity is consistently one of my top five strengths/areas of potential. For me, my positivity is like walking a tightrope between remaining positive in the face of challenges and coming across as too happy or unconscious of the real impacts.

There is a lot of conversation about the problems people face across differences. Diversity and Inclusion are often pursued as the answer. Reciprocity is the missing key.

We are all, both in and out of the workplace and across the multiverse, whole, authentic individuals in our own right—shaped, but not bound, by our identity, culture, background, and upbringing.

Dungeons & Dragons, and gaming in general, has an interesting history with diversity and inclusion. Despite rough beginnings in a culture that promoted sexism and gatekeeping, it’s become a way for players of all shapes, sizes, and identities to connect, build communities, and belong. I’ve been fortunate to avoid most of the dark side of gaming, while experiencing all the support and interpersonal relationships it has to offer.
